Intellectual Property Megasuit: Could It Happen to You?
Tomorrow, September 23, I will be giving a presentation at the Digital Law Conference in San Jose, CA, entitled “Intellectual Property Megasuit: Could It Happen to You?”
The Eros v. Linden Research case is an example of this kind of megasuit. Just as in the Viacom v. Google and YouTube lawsuit, content owners have banded together to complain about allegedly lax practices of policing intellectual property rights in a site/application under the operator’s control. This time, the defendant is Linden Research, which operates the Second Life® virtual world.
In the program, I will compare the factual and legal claims in the Viacom case with the ones in the Eros case. I will post my program materials so that people can compare the two cases.
